Cheetos Relationships

Cheetos Relationships

I have a love-hate relationship with Cheetos. My son absolutely loves them along with ranch and cheese Doritos. So what happens? I get them for my son but I end up eating them at midnight. He was gone for the summer and I have slowly but surely been losing weight but since he’s come back the house is full of junk food.

They must put ingredients in processed foods that make them more addicting. Processed foods like that make me feel like crap. For his sake and mine, I start realizing that I need to find healthier options that taste just as good. Since having Penelope, researching food ingredients have been very important for her Classic Galactosemia. I mean up until this point who has this time? I figured the FDA was regulating enough so that I don’t get cancer or other major illnesses. But I know better than this. Travling years ago I experienced this first hand. I was in London and my mom handed me a bag of M&M’s and said look at the ingredients. To my amazment the ingredients were different, specifically the food coloring. They use fruit and vegtable natural coloring. The European Union takes great care to regulate food ingredients that are harmful. This is just one example, but the food coloring additives that Mars company uses have been said to increase issues with children who have ADD. This is just a small amount of research on one additive. The FDA has more than 3,000 ingredients listed on their website. Who can remember all that? Can I trust the FDA to make sure I am not eating something bad for me? No I can’t.
Another example BHT, is in a lot of food, and has suspicions of being carcinogenic. I am now at my venting point, but where is the FDA on this? It’s not easy but I look for the least amount of ingredients possible in any foods that I eat. It’s probably why I like cooking from scratch using organic foods.

I like that Brewers ice cream commercial. Little toddler‘s reading the back of the Breyers ice cream box. They are able to read the whole food ingredients and we all know what they are milk, sugar, cream, …etc. Then you ask them to read the ingredients from another brand and they’re trying so hard to pronounce chemical names. If you cannot pronounce it, you should probably shouldn’t eat it.

MSG has a lot of unhealthy side effects that you might not even notice because you’re eating it everyday in everyday items. MSG has a ton of different label names. I had to rid this ingredient out of my daughters diet and consequently we got rid of it from our diets. I realized when I eat something with msg and feel sick. I started putting things together, process foods like MSG really affect my body and mental health. I do the shopping and prepare all the food for my family, I am ultimately responsible for their health. My son is not going shopping to get himself some Cheetos but if I find a equal replacement and place it in the cabinet I know he’s going to eat it. I found Earth Fare, or Whole Foods have better options to replace processed foods. They are not perfect so read your labels.

Anne’s Cheddar Bunnies, pirates booty, and Whole Foods brand Cheetos have dairy but the rest are dairy free. These example snacks have a lot less processed ingredients than foods like Cheetos.
