Free Homemade Masks For Essential Workers

I am a Registered Nurse on the sidelines and feel completely helpless to help my fellows. As most of you know my daughter needs a lot of care so going back to work has not really been an option. I am a solution forward person. A few weeks before covid-19 hit us as a nation I ordered a sewing machine. I always wanted one. My mom and grandmother are amazing at sewing. I figured maybe they gave me the sewing gene.

Literally the day before the guidelines change for the civilian public to wear masks I got my machine. I learn to sew in 24 hours. It is not as hard as I thought it would be. I made two different kinds of masks. They are handmade and my quality inspector is a two year old, so some might have more character than others if you catch my drift.

My “Medical” masks for medical staff have a pocket to place preciously assigned surgical mask inside to prolong the use. I didn’t make a pocket for a regular mask because with all the DIY’s ideas I didn’t want someone putting a hazardous material into their masking thinking the internet had a grand idea. In no way does it cover required PPE(person protective equipment) to take care of covid-19 positive patients. Please use masks appropriately, over the nose, mouth and chin. Once placed do not touch your face, and always wash your hands.
