Wet Dog Smell

I took these two to the dog park. Amazing how my pictures don’t depict the disaster they got into. The park was a swamp hidden in the tall grass. I didn’t notice till I was ankle deep in mud, yelling and chasing these two to get out.

I love dogs, and I love Lulu but Ooo I hate muddy wet dog smell. After their mud bath, I immediately started looking up how to get rid of wet dog smell. I stumbled upon baking soda dry bath. Over the years I’ve tried everything. So, I tried a baking soda bath, followed by a full shampoo and conditioning. It definitely helps this pooch smell neutral.

My house never smells like puppy. We have no carpet which helps. I also frequently wash dog beds, and toys, and buy new dog beds once or twice a year from Home Goods…so cheap. I can get large dog beds for around $15. I’m also a huge fan of Bath and Body works room sprays and plug-ins. However, wet dog is wet dog and that smell just comes with the territory.

Always consult your vet because each dog has different needs. The baking soda really helped us and lasts a long time. I just mix a 1/2 cup with some water and coat her with the mix. I let it sit for a minute or two and then shampoo and condition. It really makes a difference in our bathing routine.
